Mayo Lake is a reservoir located in northeastern Person County, North Carolina. Boating entrance, walking trails, swimming access, picnic and camp site areas are accessed from Neals Store Road about 9 miles north of the city of Roxboro along NC highway 49. Mayo Lake a beautiful 2800-acre lake, also known as Mayo Reservoir, it was created by a dam impoundment of Mayo Creek has over 85 miles of shoreline and a 120-acre park with hiking trails, featuring plant identification plaques for self-guided tours. Mayo Lake is very private and while out on the water you will actually see very few homes. Everything below the 450 line is controlled by the NC Wildlife and so boat docks are not allowed.

This 120 acre park takes pride in its family oriented atmosphere and clean, well maintained facilities. Mayo Park offers RV campsites, primitive tent sites, cabins, and tent sites with electricity. These are all accessible by car or Mayo Park’s trail system. You can even travel from your campsite to other areas of the park by canoe or kayak and take advantage of Mayo Park’s two canoe and kayak launch areas. Each Mayo Park campsite and cabin is also within walking distance of showers and restrooms. Mayo Park also offers picnic shelters that may be reserved for special events.
Mayo Park’s Environmental Education and Community Center is a popular destination in Person County for larger events such as parties, weddings, family reunions, and other community events. Convenient to Mayo Park’s community center is an ADA accessible fishing pier, two picnic shelters, a large playground, restroom facilities, and the Mayo Park boat landing. Mayo Park’s Sasquatch disc golf course uses the natural beauty of Mayo Lake to create a scenic and quite challenging disc golf course that should keep even experienced disc golfers on their toes.
